October – AzOSA Projects Everywhere From North to South
Our beloved cactus plants do not drop leaves or petals in the Fall. They stand resolute and strong no matter how the weather changes. So does AzOSA, and this October there are origin science outreaches all over Arizona. This month is a beautiful time to bring a family member or friend to sample AzOSA’s offerings, north or south!

► October 21 – 7 PM – Phoenix: God’s Amazing Universe. Consider: Space, Time and Matter are the fundamental constituents of the Universe. Might those three fundamentals provide a clear link to the Christian doctrine of a triune (three part) God? As it happens, particle physics discoveries from Europe’s Large Hadron Collider, insights into the new hierarchy of matter, and the successful creation of matter from photons in 1997, all together create a powerful, modern argument for an intelligently designed and created Universe. The same information supports a concept of a Creator having three expressions in one. Garry Kaiser, Technology Director, Northwest Christian School (Phoenix), earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineer and master’s degree in computer science, and his continuing studies led to powerful insights. Guaranteed to stimulate conversations and enthusiastic discussion!
► October 22 – 7:00 PM – Tempe: God’s Amazing Universe. Garry Kaiser repeats his thought provoking presentation at the East Valley location freeway convenient to everyone. The Trinity has a scientific counterpart? Come and see!
► October 23 – 7:00 PM – Arizona Christian University (Phoenix): God’s Amazing Universe. Open to students, faculty, staff and the public, Garry Kaiser’s final repeat presentation develops the fascinating analogies between key Christian religious concepts and modern physics and astrophysics – this will get people talking! Bring a friend!

► October 17 – 7:00 PM – Tucson (New Location): Why Believe The Bible? Great question – and people ask it every day and in every generation. Christians must not fail to answer that question, whether it comes from skeptics, friends in crisis, teachers, or school children. In his dynamic and easy-to-understand way, veteran educator Mike Riddle equips people to share and defend a rational trust in the Bible. Get clear on these issues: Are all religions the same? Does the Bible record true history? Does science disprove the Bible? What is God like? Why does God allow suffering? Why do we die? Get clear, powerful and useful answers from one of the nation’s leading speakers – bring a friend!

Cochise County Events
► October 6 – 5:00 PM – Sierra Vista: Session 6 – The Age of the Earth. When it comes to evolution theory, many Christians are stymied by one basic question: “how old is the earth?” Norm Crawford, an aerospace engineer and clear communicator, looks at the viability of old vs. young earth interpretations of astronomical and geological features. And Norm tackles the hard questions, such as: Do you have to switch off your mind to believe in a young Earth? Will it hurt evangelism to support an unpopular view? Has the concept of “deep time” become the god of this age? The answer to these questions have tremendous theological impacts. Problems with Old Earth interpretations and its inconsistencies with Scripture and the nature of God are discussed in detail. Bring your questions and your curiosity — and a friend!
► October 13 – 5:00 PM – Sierra Vista: Session 7 – Young Earth Apologetics. Following up on Session 6, Norm Crawford digs into the myriad of evidence supporting a young Earth – much of which is ignored by both secular and non-secular Old Earth advocates. One by the most popular Old Earth positions are examined without emotional hostility but with reasoning that stimulates thinking, conversation, and ultimately greater Biblical trust. (Come even if you miss Session 6.)
► October 19 – 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM – Sierra Vista: Basic Creation Training Course. You’ve been waiting for a chance to really understand creation science and how it ties directly to the Bible. This is it: a one day course designed to prepare Christians to speak about and defend the biblical account of creation with confidence – and – become better equipped to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Taught by the nationally renowned, engaging and always crystal-clear educator, Mike Riddle, this class-interactive course is designed for anyone from the ninth grade to retirement years. Christian school teachers can earn one CEU as well. Step up to the next level and never doubt again. There’s no better time than right now.

► October 29 – 7:00 PM – Payson Public Library: The Creation Revelation. What ancient document pits secular skeptics against Christians – and even divides Christians among themselves? The Bible book of Genesis. What’s the problem? The basic view of how the Universe came to be. Sal Giardina, holding degrees in mechanical Engineering and geology, has investigated both the science and theology of the issue and presents a coherent way to see: the Genesis account is consistent with scientific observations of the Universe. (An experiment on the International Space Station is discussed, too.) Was there a major time gap between initial and later creation events (between Genesis chapters 1 and 2)? Come hear the discussion and pose the questions. Stimulating ideas will be on tap!

Yavapai County Events
October 19 – 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM – Prescott: Fall Origin Science Seminar.
► The Geology of Kartchner Caverns and the Whetstone Mountains
Kartchner Caverns, one of Arizona’s geologic wonders, rivals larger and more famous caves such as Carlsbad Caverns and Mammoth Cave in the beauty of its formations. Secular geologists have concluded through evaluation of index fossils that the limestone rocks in which Kartchner Caverns has formed were deposited hundreds of millions of years ago and radioisotope dating has indicated that the cave started forming more than 70,000 years ago. However, actual observation at Kartchner Caverns and at other caves show that cave formations such as stalactites and stalagmites do indeed grow rapidly and within the Biblical framework of less than 4,000 years. Hear Jim Clarke, AzOSA Resident Geologist, explain how the Biblical record of Noah’s Flood provides the best explanation for the formation of Kartchner Caverns and other caves.
►Five Impossible Questions for Evolutionists
Dr. Joseph Kezele, professor of biology at ACU, deals with the five key issues in ways that show only the God of the Bible can provide the answers to them: Where did matter and energy come from? Where did the first living cell come from? Where did the Cambrian explosion come from? Where did the dinosaurs come from? Where did information come from?
►Grand Canyon – Evidence for the Genesis Record or Evidence for Uniformitarianism
Geologists have identified that rock layers and geologic features provide evidence of what happened in the past. The Grand Canyon exposes nearly one mile of rock layers that are evidence of past events. Two very different viewpoints exist today. Secular geologists say the deepest rocks found at the Grand Canyon are 1-2 billion years old and the thick sequence of sedimentary rocks were slowly deposited over hundreds of millions of years; the Grand Canyon was then carved over millions of years by the action of the Colorado River. Biblical geologists, however, have concluded the deepest rocks in the Grand Canyon were created by God about 6,500 years ago and the sedimentary rocks were deposited during the one-year Noah’s Flood; the Grand Canyon was then carved quickly either at the end of the Flood or by a catastrophic event a few years after the Flood. Jim Clarke presents geologic evidence from the Grand Canyon and other recent geologic events such as Mount Saint Helens that shows the Grand Canyon was formed by a catastrophic event: Noah’s Flood.
