CRS Announces Annual Conference 

Creation Research Society’s annual conference will be held July 22 – 25, 2021 at the Arizona Christian University in Glendale.   The CRS is a professional organization of trained scientists and interested laypeople committed to the science of Creation.  Their Mission Statement: “The CRS pursues and supports original research verifying creation model of origins as a means to reveal the Creator.” Exodus 20:11. Colossians 1:15-16

Behind the Scenes …. With Michael Calcagno, Vice President Gila Division

One of the first things you notice when speaking with Michael is his infectious enthusiasm.  While the topic was his role in AzOSA his genuine love for the Creator and his focus on spreading creation truth effervesces.  He attended Portland State University and earned his BS in Education.  He spent his working career in education prior to moving to Arizona.  When asked what led him to his understanding of Creation Apologetics he is generous with praise to, as he puts it “the giants of the field”.  His interest was piqued by Ken Hamm and his presentations on the first eleven chapters of Genesis.  He wanted to know more and next attended a Creation Conference in Beaverton Oregon where he secured Kent Hovind’s video series on creation and the age of the earth.  In seeking to expand his knowledge he was drawn to Dr. Donald Chittick and the Creation Compass Ministry. Dr. Chittick became his mentor and Michael immersed himself in learning about anthropology and ancient man from the biblical perspective.

He believed that the truth of creation needed to be spread.  So he developed a speaking program – it was early days so he was using transparencies and a projector.  Next came the laptop computer and he expanded his speaking programs.  On a vacation to the Four Corners region he was drawn to the geology and saw the evidence of a catastrophic event.  Upon moving to Arizona he crossed paths with AzOSA and now leads the Gila Division.

Michael says he looks at the world through biblical glasses rather than a world view; he wants to share this view with those who have not heard.  He now has 11 topics listed on the AzOSA website; he will be presenting three of them this month.  Michael and his wife Michelle live in Gila County.

Why does he pursue this lecture series?  Simply put he says the truth must be spread. “God does not count us, He weighs us.”

The Geology of Kartchner Caverns and the Whetstone Mountains

Kartchner Caverns is one of Arizona’s geologic wonders. The cave rivals larger and more famous caves such as Carlsbad Caverns and Mammoth Cave in the beauty of its cave formations. Secular geologists have concluded through evaluation of index fossils that the limestone rocks in which Kartchner Caverns has formed were deposited hundreds of millions of years ago and radioisotope dating has indicated that the cave started forming more than 70,000 years ago. However, actual observation at Kartchner Caverns and at other caves show that cave formations such as stalactites and stalagmites do indeed grow rapidly and within the Biblical framework of less than 4,000 years. This talk shows that the Biblical Record of Noah’s Flood provides the best explanation for the formation of Kartchner Caverns and other caves.

Yeah, But Who Wrote the Software?

This presentation looks at various animals and the instincts that drive their peculiar behaviors. Since these behaviors are not taught by the parents then the ability to perform them had to be “programmed” into the creatures before birth. Any and all evolutionary scenarios attempting to describe complex instincts fall completely short due to the observable evidence that information can only come from prior information, not randomness, which all points to a Creator Who designed organisms to “be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth” which compels us to give praise to Him!

How Critical Race Theory is wholly antithetical to Biblical and social/historical truth
