In this talk Dr. Anderson looks at the history of uniformitarianism in geologists like Charles Lyell and its impact on Darwin and materialist/naturalist origins theories. These assumptions are found in all dating methods which have become standard in making claims about the age of life and the earth. It has important bearing on how naturalists and Christians alike understand the problem of evil, the purpose of natural evil, and the original goodness of creation.

BIO: Dr. Owen Anderson is professor of philosophy and religious studies at Arizona State University. He has authored books and articles about the 1st Amendment, American Religious History, Natural Law, and God’s Existence. His current work is on natural theology and the knowledge of God. His work on science and religion has explored how naturalist presuppositions shape evolutionary accounts of biology and geology.
