A significant point of contention between old earth and young earth creationists is the question of animal death. Since the Bible clearly says that death is a consequence of sin (Rom 6:23), this question directly impacts the age of the earth because the fossil record is full of dead animals. If their death was the consequence of man’s sin, then the fossils must have come after the fall, which fundamentally requires a young earth. This talk will look at this question from a Biblical perspective by looking at how the Bible defines life and death, and how the Bible views animals throughout scripture as part of God’s good creation.
