God Put Effort Into You

Peggy Matney has been working as AzOSA’s treasurer for the last 4 years, she does a lot of the behind-the-scenes work for AzOSA. Including turning in checks, bookkeeping, and making sure each region is up to date on financial needs.

Matney started doing accounting work while in high school, and even now she still has at least a dozen clients aside from AzOSA. When she was 33 and at a very tough time in her life dealing with divorce, some of her friends invited her to Church on Christmas Eve. She attended the service and felt a total mood change in her life; she gave her life to Christ at the end of that service. When she and her friends returned home, they began to prepare a meal, and when one of her friends asked what it was like going to church, Matney said it was like losing 100lbs.

Matney first got involved with AzOSA when a friend invited her to come and see one of the lectures. What really enraptured Matney was how knowledgeable the speaker was, she remembers learning so much new information about God’s creation that it just absolutely amazed her. As the young kids would say; it blew her mind.

Matney was a Christian for some time before AzOSA, but listening in on one of the lectures ignited a new drive to learn about God and creation. She mentioned that she was well versed in accounting to one of the AzOSA helpers and if she could do anything to help to let her know. When there was an opening, she was brought on to work with AzOSA as the treasurer, and immediately fell more in love with the whole environment.

Despite all the work that goes into the job, Matney would never think of considering it hard. She finds the work quite fulfilling because it helps enable the teaching of God’s word in spectacular fashions. Being able to participate in such teachings while using her own field of expertise brings an innate sense of fulfillment to her, it helps assure that she’s on the path God has for her.

For Matney, the most significant thing about the lectures is just how much detail they go over, each one continues to teach her something new about God’s creation she never knew was there. Among her favorites are most of the lectures concerning animals and mimicry of them in our own designs. Interestingly enough, the fact that stuck with her the most was about how a woodpecker’s tongue pulls back and wraps around the brain whenever it’s pecking at something.

Matney anticipates AzOSA to continue growing and reaching countless youth and adults in the future. Sharing your faith can be very difficult in today’s age, and Matney believes that being educated on how firm your faith is will give a sense of fearlessness to any who comes and listens. She hopes that the one thing people learn about God is that He loves them and that growing more and more in that knowledge will bring an invigorating sense of life and purpose.

Peggy Matney loves to contribute to AzOSA’s efforts because it teaches how much time God put into creation. She remembers listening to one lecture and hearing about how much detail there was in just a tiny mouse, and how precise its functions are. If God spent that much effort on a little mouse, imagine how much effort He put into creating you.
